Now that the warmish summer sun is behind us (I say warmish because this is Britain after all) we find ourselves not drinking nearly as much, but medically speaking we shouldn’t be drinking any less. On any given day we are supposed to drink between 11 and 16 cups of water and yet almost none of the population actually manages anywhere near this.

In cold months your body loses water at practically the same speed it would do in the summer (a British summer that is, if you live in the middle of the Sahara things may be a little bit different on that front). Then you have to think about the fact that you may well find yourself feeling lethargic and quite often that can be down to a lack of proper hydration. Drinking more can help you feel more energetic and generally better helping you get through the winter blues and maybe just maybe be able to get out of be in the morning without hitting the snooze button 50 times. Added to which your skin tends to get even more dehydrated in winter than it does in the summer, so drinking plenty of fluids not only makes you feel healthier you will look healthier too. As if you didn’t have enough reasons remember standing around the water cooler can give you some time to procrastinate at work, but you didn’t get that idea from us.

Remember that drinking coffee and tea does not make you dehydrated, the fact is that is an urban myth, they do not hydrate you as well as just water would, but the fact is if you want something to boost your hydration levels but don’t really fancy some nice cool water from your office water coolers then you can get away with a nice cup of tea or coffee.

We all know that feeling of a headache starting to come on, how many of us actually reach straight for the pain killers as soon as they think one is starting?
One of the major causes for headaches is dehydration.

You should consider treating your headache naturally with water. You should try to understand what could be causing the headach. Is it from tension? Headaches that can result from stress, fatigue or physical problems, psychological, emotional or even depression.

Could it be a cluster headache, which come in groups of one to four a day in a set clusters that could be for days or months. Hormonal headaches can be similar to migraines in that they affect only one side of the head, and they are also frequently accompanied by nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and/or noise. Finally, there are sinus headaches, which can be after a cold or other medical condition.
Water can help as a treatment for headaches. Tension headaches, cause fatigue. Fatigue is a side effect of dehydration. So, if you treat the dehydration you are also treating the headache. Tension headaches could also be a symptom of other problems, so if they persist it is recommended that you seek help from your doctor. Cluster headaches can also be helped by drinking water. You could also take a nice warm shower as this helps relax the body.

As the saying goes prevention is better than cure so staying hydrated will help. Its well known that caffeine withdraw will give you a headache. Having a coffee or Cola drink can hyradate the body to help ease the headache pain, but it could also begin a vicious cycle.

So basically, when dealing with headaches the pain can be relieved from water on the inside and out. Drinking fresh clean water is the best way to help. Mains fed water coolers supply fresh cold filtered water as a constant supply and can be fitted up to 50 metres away from a mains supply. You could choose to have a Water Cooler on rental to ensure that the unit is regularly serviced and filters are replaced to ensure a great fresh taste.

In conclusion your body needs to be constantly hydrated and having access to clean fresh water is the a great way to keep those headaches at bay, obviously we would always recommend you seek medical attention if you are in any way concerned about your headaches.

PowWow went into administration back in March 2010 but even now we get old PowWow customers coming to us!

Due to PowWow Water Company Limited entering administration there are now thousands of PowWow customers in need of a new water cooler company. If you’ve been affected and need either a bottled or mains fed water cooler call Thirsty4Water now on 01924 237760.

Established in 1946 and part of the Wilkes Group, Thirsty4Water is a family company, with a proud history of unparalleled customer service and an ethical company ethos. Partnered with Frank Water Projects – a water charity that provides clean drinking water to some of India’s most vulnerable communities – Thirsty4Water donates £10 for every water cooler rented or sold!

PowWow In Administration

Years of poor customer service and numerous shifts in ownership – POWWOW passed their company on to the administrators. After years of building up their large customer base with strong sales pitches and a supposed “setting the standard for superior service” it finally came to an end for POWWOW.

They left around 50,000 POWWOW customers out of the loop without any water or cooler care. The POWWOW vans were withdrawn, the drivers and office staff have had their employment terminated and their water coolers will be picked up from sites.

Powow Water Cooler Company

Thirsty 4 Water are the premier independent water cooler and water supplier in the UK providing a comprehensive, efficient and friendly water cooler service with no waiting on hold, no confusing invoices, no overseas call centers and the family run respect that is required to run a first class water cooler service. Our company has been established since 1946 and still in the same family ownership. You can be sure to find the reassurance and confidence needed from Thirsty 4 Water!

PowWow will not be delivering any water, will not be servicing any water coolers and all PowWow water cooler contracts are now VOID!

This unfortunate revelation is something which has been largely in anticipation not only from PowWow customers but also other water cooler companies. With concern that the large number of PowWow customer’s water coolers will be empty, we are here to offer a helping hand to all those customers who need any water due to the circumstances.

Contact us now on 01924 237760 or email hello@thirsty4water.co.uk.

Here at Thirsty 4 Water we like to keep abreast of all the latest news within our industry and I have noticed a new trend coming through in the world of blogging:

Water Cooler Gossip

It now seems the best place to keep up to date with whats going on around you is at the Water Cooler. The term Water Cooler is now being used on some well know columnists blogs such as the Watercooler from the Independent.

Office Water Cooler Hot Spot

As the summer heats up the water cooler becomes the office hot spot, I guess it’s human nature that people gather around the water cooler for a short break and a quick chat with friends and colleagues.

Water Cooler Blogs

So now is seems the word Water Cooler is the latest slang word for keeping up with the latest gossip, so now when you hear the term Water Cooler discussion you know it may just be gossip and hear say!

Water Cooler Installation

Plumbed in water coolers are more flexible than you think, when we come to install your water cooler we don’t necessarily need to be directly next to a water supply, so think about the best place to install your water cooler and discuss this with us when we arrive to plumb in your water cooler.

And on a final note, I read a ‘Water Cooler Discussion‘ recently about a man returning a book to a South London Library which was more than 30 years over due. Ron Robb found the book ‘Pepys Diary’ whilst moving house, the book had been borrowed in 1981. So at the library’s charge of 15p per day Mr Robb owes £1642.50, but thankfully the local authority says it will cap the fine to £5.

That’s right its Wimbledon fortnight once again. Here in the Thirsty 4 Water office we

are enjoying the banter of whether or not Andy Murray will do England… oh we mean Great Britain proud this year. Some say yes, some say no, some say they couldn’t care less!

We decided to look into what makes a good tennis player the best, other than hard work on the court of course. Well one important factor is of course diet! A tennis player’s diet needs to include a balanced set of nutrients. Their diets are one major component that every professional tennis player must take into consideration as part of their tennis training long term plan.

It’s more than just eating the correct foods; it’s a science that many trainers are investing a lot of time and money into, to perfect this key element. Nutrition requirements are more specific and regulated than a normal athletes’ diet.

Athletes Need Water!

What we are most interested is of course fluids in the diet! Tennis players need to take on plenty of water regularly even without any physical activities because hydration as we all know is vital for normal body processes. Apparently players should ideally take on up to 80 ounces of water or any type of fluid daily. It is also very important to drink the water or fluid regularly and not just drink it when you become very thirsty. This is why you see players taking small sips in-between changing service ends.

Players such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in particular, need to drink lots of water or fluids all throughout the day and night before big matches so that their bodies are always hydrated and functioning to their full capacity. In addition to water, tennis players also need to consume sports drinks that contain electrolytes, carbohydrates, proteins, and sodium’s. These types of sports drinks serve as immediate replenishment of all the essential body elements that are lost during intensive performance matches.

All this leaves with us with one thought, if only Andy were to google water coolers and take advantage of our free 14 day trial on all mains fed water cooler, imagine the possibilities!
